Baw Baw Classic

The Origin of the Baw Baw Classic
The Baw Baw Classic began in 2001, thanks to former Warragul Cycling Club member Chris Beales, who saw potential in the steep climb to Mt. Baw Baw. With support from the Baw Baw Shire, resort, and WCC, the first race challenged over 100 riders with extreme weather conditions, including snow at the summit.

Praised by Australian cyclist Dave McKenzie as one of the toughest climbs, the event quickly gained a reputation. Thanks to continued support from Cyclesport Victoria and the dedication of WCC, the Baw Baw Classic remains a highlight of West Gippsland’s cycling scene.
